LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES 2

 

1. Solve the following equations graphically 2x – 3y – 17 = 0, 4x + y – 13 = 0 and shade the region between the lines and the x axis.

2. Solve 0.4 x – 1.5 y = 6.5 and 0.3x + 0.2y = 0.9 by substitution method

3. Ten years hence, a man’s age will be twice the age of his son. Ten years ago, the man was four times as old as his son. Find their present ages.

4. Solve 2x – 3y = 13 and 7x – 2y = 20 by substitution method

5. If 1 is added to both numerator and denominator of a fraction, it becomes 4/5. If however, 5 is subtracted from both the numerator and denominator the fraction becomes 1/2. Find the fraction.
